School Information- Your Questions Answered

What are my school choices?

The vast majority of students attend the fine, local public schools. Figuring out what schools can be confusing since Illinois school district boundaries aren't limited by community boundaries. The Chicago area features a wide range  private schools including Catholic schools, Jewish schools and Independent schools. The North Shore area is also served by several Community Colleges. If you have a need for special education services I have provided a link to find out more information.

Highland Park High SchoolHow do the schools rank?

North Shore schools generally rank high on standardized tests, although the answer to the question is really based on individual experiences and preferences. You can find test scores and much more on the sites below which have Illinois School Board of Education School Profiles and Report Cards. These sites offer a great overview.

What do schools offer besides academics?

To find out about school athletics and programs other than academics there are two main sites where you can find more information. Not every school offers every program, so it is important to check at the individual schools you are interested in. If you have questions about a specific program or activity, I'll be glad to assist you in finding what you need.

How do the local schools compare with schools in other areas?

There are numerous sites that help you compare schools and data nationally but I find SchoolMatters.com one of the best. This site is loaded with statistics, articles and has a huge national database of schools. There are also parent comments which can be very telling. Another site that will help you quickly get information you need nationally is School Data Direct.
